My little princess turned 2 on May. It seems like yesterday when I was giving birth to this beautiful baby and she is now a cutie little girl. We decided to have a small celebration at home with a family Zoom call since we are quarantined.
I had been trying to decide the party theme decor for a while. I was between a cute woodland animals decoration, Peppa Pig or Flamingle. I finally decided to go with a delicate pink Flamingle party decoration.
After the theme had been decided, I started looking for the flamingo image. I knew I wanted it to be watercolored and in pink tones. I pay a monthly fee to Freepik to access an amazing library of images and found the flamingo image I was looking for.
Then it was designing time! I started by defining the colors. I wasn’t convinced with the blue-green colors of the image so I tried some palettes. These were the options I had:
I decided to use the last color palette.
After defining the colors, it was time to select the fonts. I usually like to select a calligraphic font with a serif or sans-serif font. The last ones can be read better but the first one can be more eye-catching.
For this project I used Starshine and Botanica font. These fonts can be bought in Creative Market, a great page for design resources that I use very often. The Botanica font is part of an amazing bundle from Nicky Laatz.
I designed a bundle in green and pink tones for this flamingle party. Some of the items are cupcake toppers, cupcake wrappers, a banner with my daughter’s name, a cake topper, an invitation, multiple purpose tags and signs.
The invitation has a pink and white striped background. It has a beautiful pink flamingo and some green leaves that decorate the borders. It was a virtual celebration so I sent this invitation via chat and also printed a copy for me.
The cake topper was made with a printed flamingo neck and head and a mini pompom made with pink tissue paper. I pasted the pompom to the neck and pasted a toothpick in the back to be able to insert it in the cake.
The water bottles were embellished with wrappers and a pink ribbon.
To store the favors, I bought white paper bags and decorated them with a theme-designed flag that had each child’s name. I sent them to each one after the birthday. Also, there were 2 little 5″ x 7″ signs as part of the decoration of the table. The water tags were also used to decorate baby food jars.
To decorate the wall, I designed a sign that said “Happy Birthday” and underneath I placed a garland that had my girl’s name. I also made a small balloon arrangement with different pink tones.
We had a small pink flamingle party for our girl at home, decorated with so much love and had a wonderful time. It was A Pretty Celebration.
